Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2008

APR 10 2008

Being passionate about running, I have joined countless of marathon events and running competition.

One of the most prestigious marathon events this year is the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2008. This affair was first started in 1977 with over 4,000 participants. This year, organizers of the event are expecting a total of 45,000 marathon runners to join, with 1.5 spectators turnout.

The long distance marathon event will be held on October 12. It will start in the Grant Park near the Buckingham Fountain and will also end there.

Chicago is a favorable place for running as its landscape is fairly flat, which is much preferred by runners all over the world.

The registration for the marathon event had already started on February 1, and any one who is interested to join must immediately sign up as the slots are usually full by spring.

As a pro runner, I am trying to prepare myself for this marathon event. Of course, being physically fit is important for any one who wants to finish the long distance.

Everyday, I do cardiovascular workout to build a strong stamina. I would opt for cycling, jogging, or brisk walking. After this, I’ll do exercises that will strengthen my muscles such as weight-lifting.

As I run, I make sure to wear the proper attire. I prefer cotton t-shirts and shorts, but when the weather is cold and windy, I would opt for hooded sweatshirts and long jogging pants.

As an experienced runner for many years, I advice people who want to join the Bank of America Chicago Marathon to get prepare for this affair. This is important if they would wish to finish the long distance run.
