Coral Lagoon Marathon is a place worth visiting. Marathon is considered to be the heart of Florida City. It is a 10 mile long family oriented island community which has its own culture, heritage and mesmerising beauty. Its seafaring tradition makes it a very special place for all the tourists who enjoy the scenic beauty of Marathon.
Marathon is said to be a storehouse of beaches, marine life, animals and reef diving. It has something for everything irrespective of age and interest. Most important is the sailing, fishing, diving and SNUBA which is well like by the tourists. On the other hand, nature wise too it has beauty like Sombrero beach.
The Coral Lagoon Resort and Marina are also situated in the Marathon. The resort overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and thus is a visitors’ delight. The sky touching coconut palms, sandunes, make it all the more enchanting and a great holiday spot.
Seven Mile Bridge at Marathon- You simply cannot avoid this bridge if you go to the Key West end of Marathon. It was made by special salt water cement which was imported from Germany. The sailors have to wait for low tide before they can make their way through it.
Beaches- they are a big marvel of marathon. There are a number of beaches most spectacular being the Sombrero beach. The sand as well as the water is nice with adequate restrooms. Coral banks are found at each end of the beach, even small shells can be found by the sides.
Crane Point Museum- it was bought from the Bahamas, and is often referred to as the adderley village. Here even till now you can find the original adderley village, a museum boasting of old relics, bird center. Visitors can even see the wonderfully preserved tropical hardwood groove.
On the grassy key you can find the Dolphin research center, here you can find as well as interact with the dolphins and just get to know them more. If you want to enjoy the marine activities you need to visit the Boot Key Harbour.
As far as food is concerned it is delightful with various types of tasty fish becoming your staple diet here. A number of small motels, resorts, private hotels are available so accommodation is not at all a problem.
