Running for Danskin Women's Triathlon

Considered as one of the most prestigious sporting events for female athletes, the Danskin Women’s Triathlon attracts thousands of novice and professional triathletes. Meanwhile, the race is divided into eight categories including Age Group, Mixed Age Group, Women in Uniform, Athena, Elite, Physically Challenged, Team Survivor, and Relay Team.

The Danskin Women’s Triathlon is a prestigious sports event held in different states that attracts thousands of female athletes, both professional and novice.

This year, the sports fest will be held in Orlando, Florida; Austin, Texas; Seattle, Washington: Sandy Hook, New Jersey; RecPlex, Wisconsin; New England; and Colorado.

According to the event organizers, the triathlon will include a half-a-mile swimming, 12-mile biking trail, and 3-mile running. And because this is a long-distance race, participants should be at least 14 years old and should make sure that they are physically fit and well-trained to participate to such grueling sports activity.

Meanwhile, the race is divided into eight categories including: Age Group, Mix Age Group, Women in Uniform, Athena, Elite, Physically Challenged, Team Survivor, and Relay Team.

This is the description of each race category:

Age Group

This category will be divided into different age groups with 5-year increment such as 14 to 19 years old, 20 to 24 years old, and so on. Meanwhile, the first three participants who will finish the race will receive an award.

Mix Age Group

This category will allow women from different age group to compete against other. And because of this arrangement, participants can also race with their families and friends to make the sports fest more fun.

Women in Uniform

This division is exclusively for women who are currently employed in the military, police department, fire department, and other related government agencies. Meanwhile, the top three participants will receive an award.

Athena Group

To qualify for this category, a participant should weigh at least 150 lbs. or heavier. Meanwhile, participants from this division will be ranked and scored against other women from the same weight.

Elite Category

To qualify for this category, a participant should be in the top 10 finishers among the 300 racers in the Age Group Race Category. This means that this race division is only participated by the strongest racers in the triathlon.

Physically Challenged Category

To qualify for this category, a participant should have a medical condition and physical disability that falls under the requirements of the USA Triathlon.

Team Survivor

The Team Survivor Category is for cancer survivors who want to promote awareness and support those who are suffering from this debilitating disease.

Relay Team Category

Each team will consist of two or three members with each of them splitting the three segments of the triathlon (swimming, biking, and running).
