Upcoming Half-Marathons in 2010

With the year coming just around the corner, runners all over the world are eagerly looking for running opportunities. There are in fact a lot of runs and half-marathons that people can look forward to, but one needs to know about them in order to participate.

This article will give you some of the upcoming half-marathons for the year 2010.

Since the New Year is fast approaching, it is time for us runners to start looking at the options for half-marathons available for 2010. Fortunately, there are more than enough for us to join and to try our luck and skill at the course. Here are some of the upcoming half-marathons for the year 2010.

Run to Read Half-Marathon

The fifth Run to Read Half-Marathon will take place on January 9, 2010. This will be held at the Prickett’s Fort State Park in Marion County, Fairmont. The marathon will begin at 12 noon. The Half-Marathon will be a 13.1-mile course first passing through the McParc Trail, followed by the Mon River Trail and coming back around to Prickett’s Fort State Park. This marathon is open to both walkers and runners, but both groups have to finish the course within the 4-hour limit set by the organizers.

Bridge at Ocean Isle Beach Run for Food Half Marathon & 5K

As its name suggests, this event will both have a half-marathon (13.1-mile course) and a 5K run. So, if you’re up for some good exercise and fun, you should join this charity event. Like the Run to Read half-marathon the Bridge at Ocean Isle Beach Run for Food Half Marathon & 5K event will be held on January 9, 2010.

Southern California Half Marathon & 5K

Another charity event taking place on January 9, 2010, this run’s proceeds will go to several schools in the Irvine Unified School District as well to the Woodbridge High School athletics division and several charities in the area. The race will be held in Woodbridge, Irvine, Southern California. Kids are encouraged to run, with a separate Kids’ Run taking place 2 hours after the start of the actual race.

Pensacola Beach 5k/10k/Half- Marathon

Taking place at Pensacola Beach, this is a fun event that includes not only the marathon but also a post-race activity with a live band and lots of drinks for the runners. The Pensacola Beach Run is going to take place on January 16, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. The post-race event begins right away after all the runners have finished running.

The Day’s Inn hotel will host next year’s Pensacola Beach Run. For more info, visit the race’s website.
