The Kansas City Triathlon, which is one of the most prestigious sporting events in the state of Missouri, allows novice and professional triathletes to join in the race that includes swimming, biking, and running. This year’s triathlon event will be held at 7:30 am on May 23 at Longview Lake which is near the Raytown Road.
According to the event organizers, the triathlon will be divided into two categories: the sprint which includes 750-meter swim, 12.4-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run; and the long-distance race which includes 1,500-meter swim, 24.9-mile bike, and 6.2-mile run.
The good thing about the Kansas City Triathlon is that novice triathletes can join in the race. In addition, families and friends of registered racers can participate in the event. All they have to do is pay the $75 fee which allows four people to enjoy the facilities including restrooms, parking area, and access to food and drinks.
Ensuring the Safety of Triathletes
To ensure the safety of all the registered triathletes, there are volunteers who will race with them to provide medical attention (in case that this is needed) and to ensure that no one is left out.
When it comes to safety gear, all the racers are expected to wear a bike helmet which must be certified by a government agency such as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to make sure that it can provide enough protection.
Also, the swim caps will be color-coded to determine who are still in the water.
In addition, the event organizer will provide testing on bikes before the race to make sure that these will have no mechanical problem during the triathlon. Take note that there will be no mechanical support during the race course.
To further ensure the safety of the triathletes, the event will include a race briefing to inform the participants all about the safety rules and other important regulations that aim to make the race safer for them.
Important Tips for Triathletes
While the race will start 7:30 in the morning, it is important to arrive early (about 5:30 or 6:00) since it takes time get marked and to do other preparations for the event. Remember that arriving on the exact time may put a lot of stress to participants who are forced to cram on preparations.
